Sample Candy

Many candy bars have multiple layers of different ingredients like caramel and chocolate. When you take a cylindrical "core sample" using a clear plastic straw, these layers are clearly visible inside the straw. You can do a side-by-side comparison of the layers in different candy bars. You can also match an unknown sample to an existing sample to identify the source of the unknown sample. Read the Digging Deeper section to learn more about how geologists use real core samples to explore Earth and other planets.

Geologists use large drills to take core samples of soil and rocks on Earth. They examine the core samples for different layers, which can tell us things about Earth's history, like the climate or the types of animals that were alive at a certain time. Scientists can even figure out when volcanoes erupted in the past by looking for layers of volcanic ash!

We can also use core samples to learn about other planets and bodies in our solar system. Previous NASA missions gathered core samples from the Moon, and the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover will gather core samples from rocks and soil on Mars for future analysis.

"Candy Shop" is a mid-tempo dancefloor track.[3][4] The song was produced by Scott Storch, who took influence from Middle Eastern music.[5] The track samples The Salsoul Orchestra's "Love Break".[6] The production was described by IGN as having a "Middle Eastern tinge" with synthesized strings that "unleash a darkly atonal whirl that sounds too much like something either Timbaland or The Neptunes or Mannie Fresh have concocted".[7] The Guardian wrote that the production contains "wan-sounding imitations of the Neptunes' sparse, breathy funk".[8] PopMatters described the bridge as being "relaxed yet faintly ominous" with 50 Cent and Olivia crooning: "Girl what we do (what we do) / And where we do (and where we do) / The things we do (things we do) / Are just between me and you (oh yeah)."[9] Rolling Stone noted the chorus for 50 Cent's "amateur-sounding tenor croon".[4]

In 2011, German group The Baseballs released a rockabilly version of "Candy Shop", which reached number 69 on the Austrian singles chart.[31] "Weird Al" Yankovic included the song in his polka medley "Polkarama!" from his 2006 album Straight Outta Lynwood. On the film Little Man Percy P made his own mixtape over it. Folk artist Suzanne Vega sampled "Candy Shop" for her 2014 release, "Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles".[32]The song was interpolated on Pop Smoke's 2020 single "The Woo", also featuring and produced by 50 Cent, and featuring Roddy Ricch.[33]

Haichū, also known as Hi-Chew, is a very popular type of chewy candy in Japan. Hi-Chew was invented by a man trying to make a chewing gum that could be swallowed. Why In Japan, taking food out of your mouth is considered rude! What he ended up creating was this famous chewy candy. Today there are more than 40 flavors of Hi-Chew, such as banana, cola, strawberry, watermelon and even cheesecake! Hi-Chews can be found in the United States, especially on the coast. You can even find it at Costco.

But that free sample was like magic. It was brilliant really, as the person behind the candy counter (also dressed in white) would fetch it for me and put it in that little white back with the black lettering.

Suppose there is a test you want to do on a candy bar and you need your test results to represent the entire bar. However, you have two problems. First, the test must be run on a tiny sample that fits in the small round pan. You could simply cut a tiny piece off of the candy bar and stick it in the pan but therein lies problem two.

If the candy bar is particularly delicious and has different layers inside such as; caramel, nougat, peanuts, then simply shaving off a piece of the chocolate will not provide a sample that accurately represents the collective candy bar.

One solution to this problem is to grind the sample. However, for a candy bar, grinding the layers will result in a messy confusing mixture. Although we do love ooey-gooey chocolate, we love great science more. Therefore, we turn to a more comprehensive technique, called cryo-grinding. To accomplish this sample preparation technique we first freeze the sample in liquid nitrogen, then shake it in a tube with steel impactor which results in a fine powder.

Thanks to my long time reader Barb for helping to resurrect the Ridiculous Candy category here on theMangoTimes blog. By just reading the title, all of my readers should clearly recognize that this candy is absolutely ridiculous, right If not, here are a few reasons it made theMT list:

Second, Urine candy Really As a society, we do not need to create even the most remote possibility for an error to occur in our homes between urine samples and candy. I don't want to even go through the mental gymnastics of wondering if the vial I open up is candy or real, because an error here would really screw someone up for life. Example: This reminds me of a time when I was in high school and I was drinking a big glass of apple juice from the refridgerator. It had not been given time to cool down yet, so as I took a sip of the room temperature juice, my big brother (the long haired hippy) said, "Is that my urine sample I placed in the fridge" I have not been able to enjoy apple juice since. Case closed.

Third, the website for this candy says: "Just unscrew the cap and enjoy! Wait until people see you drinking your own pee pee sample.... you've never had so much fun with a medical container." I'm not sure that my goal is to "have fun" with medical containers. Seriously, where are we heading with this idea Chocolate brownies served in stool sample containers Come to think of it, we have already blurred the lines between medical containers and having fun. We use Playmate coolers to hold ice cold six packs of Coors, but we also use Playmate coolers to hold human transplant organs enroute to recipients. Again, I don't want to ever confuse medical containers.
